All three militants involved in the Monday (28 October) morning attack on an Army ambulance in Battal, located in the Akhnoor area of Jammu, were killed in an encounter with the Indian Army.
The area was cordoned off and the encounter lasted nearly six hours. Dressed in military-style clothing, the militants opened fire on the ambulance, sparking a firefight with Army personnel.
Although no official statement has been issued yet, sources told Indian Express that the bodies of the three militants have been recovered, while their identities are still unknown.
Security forces and police suspect that they were members of the banned group Jaish-e-Mohammed and may have crossed the Manawar Tawi river from Pakistan to enter Battal.
The area remains sealed off as search operations continue. This incident follows a recent series of militant attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
Last week, two soldiers and two civilian porters working with the Army were killed, and three soldiers were injured in an attack near the Line of Control in Gulmarg sector.
Additionally, an attack on a campsite in Gagangir, Ganderbal district, resulted in the deaths of seven APCO Infratech employees, including a local doctor.
These attacks occurred shortly after the National Conference, led by Omar Abdullah, came to power in the union territory. He warned Pakistan against these attacks.
