Sara Hatoum, our Editor-in-Chief, is a former correspondent with over 20 years of experience reporting from key Middle Eastern hotspots like Syria, Iraq, and Egypt.
Sara began her career in Cairo as a reporter for a Weekly, where she focused on the rise of political Islam in Egypt and the sociopolitical changes during the Arab Spring. She has developed a reputation for providing clarity on the region’s complex political dynamics, from the Syrian Civil War to Iran’s influence in the Gulf.
Sara’s career includes leading coverage for a national newspaper in Baghdad during the Iraq War, where her reporting from the frontlines was crucial to understanding the political aftermath of the invasion. She earned an Award in 2017 for her investigative reporting on the economic sanctions against Iran. As a Senior Editor at an international news portal, Sara directed coverage of the conflicts in Libya, Syria, and Yemen, providing expert commentary on geopolitical developments.
Her work on Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and its impact on regional stability was featured in various media outlets. As Editor-in-Chief of Al Arabiya Post, Sara ensures the portal provides balanced, in-depth analysis of the region’s most pressing issues, including geopolitics, security, and human rights, making complex Middle Eastern affairs accessible to a global audience.
