Operations involving Syria and Russia target terrorist locations.
According to a statement from the Syrian defense ministry, in retaliation for the terrorists’ assault on civilians near Hama, Syrian and Russian troops bombed the terrorists’ bases in the suburbs of Idlib.
The statement went on to say that a number of weapons, ammo, and equipment as well as terrorists’ reconnaissance drones were targeted during the operations.
Following the assaults, dozens of terrorists were killed or wounded, it continued.
Four safe zones were created in Syria in accordance with the 2017 agreement made by Iran, Russia, and Turkey as the guarantor nations of the Astana Peace Talks.
In 2018, the Syrian army took control of three areas, while the Idlib province in northwest Syria and minor portions of the provinces of Latakia, Hama, and Aleppo remain under the hands of terrorist organizations and rival factions.
In a deal signed in Sochi, Russia at the end of the summer of 2018, the presidents of Russia and Turkey committed Turkey to peacefully removing or disarming the terrorists located in this area.
