Jaishankar Tears Into Pakistan Over Cross-Border Terrorism in “Terror by Night, Trade by Day”
S. Jaishankar, India’s minister of external affairs, said on Wednesday that Pakistan must continue to engage in cross-border terrorism before India can have a normal relationship with it.
The EAM said that India cannot let cross-border terrorism to serve as the justification for starting negotiations with Pakistan while speaking at a gathering in New Delhi.
The EAM said that it is time to stop allowing terrorism to occur by night and commerce by day in a thinly disguised assault on Pakistan.
“There hasn’t been much to talk about in the previous five years, so you haven’t heard much about SAARC. We haven’t met because one of the SAARC members doesn’t match the minimum standards for good membership, which is now a challenge the SAARC is unable to overcome.
“You are aware that I said that collaboration will still take place despite the fact that we cannot continue to do terrorist activities. I believe that there are problems there, and it is time to acknowledge how severe they are and stop allowing commerce to go place during the day while terrorism occurs at night.
