Police in Pakistan’s Punjab province foil a terrorist plot and capture 13 suspects.
Pakistani security forces said on Saturday that they had foiled a major terror plot by detaining 13 terrorists, including three ISIS leaders, who were intending to attack vital infrastructure in the state of Punjab.
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Punjab police stated in a statement that the militants were apprehended in Lahore, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Rawalpindi, Chiniot, Kasur, and Multan during the last few of days.
“The arrested terrorists had planned to target important installations across the province,” it said.
It was reported that a “major terror plot” in the Punjab region had been thwarted thanks to the arrest.
Terrorists affiliated with Al Qaeda, Daesh, Sipah-e-Sahaba, and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have been apprehended.
According to the statement, 2,360 grams of explosives, one IED device, eleven detonators, firearms, ammunition, and forbidden material were discovered from them.
