Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Wednesday that he spoke with US President-elect Donald Trump following his election victory.
“We agreed to maintain close dialogue and advance our cooperation. Strong and unwavering US leadership is vital for the world and for a just peace,” Zelenskyy said in a post on X.
Trump has said he would work with both Ukraine and Russia to end their conflict and has repeatedly suggested he would do so by pressuring Kyiv to make territorial concessions to Russia.
Ukraine was predicted to see a rapid reduction in US military aid once Biden leaves office.
