Ukraine’s Zelenskyy meets with Saudi Crown Prince
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman after he landed in Jeddah on Wednesday for a previously unannounced trip, the official Saudi Press Agency said.
Zelenskyy arrived in the Red Sea coastal city and was greeted by Saudi officials including the national security adviser and ambassador to Kyiv, SPA added.
Saudi Arabia has maintained relationships with both Moscow and Kyiv since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, positioning itself as a potential mediator in the conflict.
In August last year, Saudi Arabia hosted talks on the war that drew representatives of more than 40 countries, excluding Russia.
Zelenskyy attended an Arab League summit in May 2023 in Jeddah.
Zelenskyy most recently visited Saudi Arabia in February, when he held talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to promote his peace plan and discuss potential prisoners of war exchanges.
