Afghanistan Remains a Terrorist Breeding Ground
Afghanistan has reportedly once again turned into a refuge for terrorists, according to the UN under Secretary General Vladimir Voronkov.
Voronkov spoke on Wednesday at a symposium on the anti-terrorism agreement of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization that was sponsored by the Russian and Chinese embassies.
This event is very topical, particularly in light of the findings from the group’s 14th report on the analytical assistance and oversight of sanctions relating to the Taliban.
The essay, which is both deep and educational, convincingly demonstrates how Afghanistan is once again slowly regaining its status as one of the most significant—possibly the most important—epidemics for the development of terrorism. The facts demonstrate the opposite, in spite of all declarations and pledges, he continued.
He also made clear that Kabul’s present government is “unable or unwilling to reduce the terrorist threat.”
The CSTO council of foreign ministers met the day before in Belarus to address the war in Ukraine and the situation in Afghanistan.
The organization’s member governments expressed their worries about the terrorist organizations in Afghanistan.
A Russian FM spokeswoman had already voiced worry about security concerns coming from Afghanistan with outside assistance. While the Russian Foreign Minister also said that Washington used “acting illegal armed groups” in Afghanistan to promote regional instability.
