China might be a market for textiles produced in Pakistan.
According to Mian Kashif Ashfaq, CEO of Pakistan Furniture Council, there are enormous opportunities for distinctive and high-quality made-in-Pakistan goods including bedding, bed sheets, quilts, pillows, pillowcases, towels, curtains, stationery items, bags, and sports-wear articles in China.
Following his participation in the Canton Fair 2023, which was held in the Chinese province of Guangdong, Kashif spoke with INP-WealthPK. He described the Canton Fair as one of the largest trade fairs in the world where anything from a needle to large machinery could be found. Kashif also stated that Pakistan has the potential to profit from such a massive event. According to Kashif, the exhibition provided Pakistani businesspeople with plenty of chances to learn about current global business trends and establish a broad variety of corporate collaborations, alliances, and networks with national and international organizations.
Eight booths were put up by Pakistani businesses during the fair’s third phase, which ended on May 5, 2023. After a three-year hiatus during which regular physical participation was prevented by the Covid-19 limitations, it was Pakistani firms’ first actual physical engagement in the expo. The 133rd show, which was held from April 15 to May 5, drew purchasers from more than 220 nations and regions this year. It was the biggest fair in history, with approximately 70,000 booths put up by around 35,000 businesses. “All other connected services were displayed alongside items created in Pakistan. International purchasers gave us extremely excellent comments, and we have strong expectations that our textile sector can increase exports in the next years, said Kashif. He also disclosed to WealthPK that the Pakistan Furniture Council and ChenOne, one of Pakistan’s top producers of household goods, had met with other multinational corporations and exchanged professional knowledge in order to further enhance the quality of their goods and bring them up to par with international standards.
He asked the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) to plan single-country exhibits in Pakistan for the purpose of promoting Pakistani goods in the international market in a practical and efficient manner.
The Canton Fair 2023 will include a record amount of exhibition spaces and exhibitors, making it the biggest event in history. With more than 9,000 new exhibitors, the number of its offline exhibitors increased to over 34,000 this year. There were also 39,281 online exhibition firms. It has been a fantastic experience, and with the expansion of commercial prospects, we hope that the Pak-China entrepreneur level collaboration can be successful in the months to come,” Kashif remarked. When investigating the Chinese market, he also noted the significance of e-commerce and emphasized the need of its development in Pakistan.
