In the last three days, more than 4,500 Afghan refugees have returned home from Iran.
2,442 Afghan immigrants who had been in Iran on Tuesday alone have returned, according to the ministry’s tweet.
The migrants used the Islam Qala border point in Afghanistan’s Herat region to get back home.
622 returnees have reportedly been referred to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in order to get humanitarian help, according to MoRR.
On Monday, the ministry reported that around 2,400 Afghan refugees had arrived back in their country on Sunday from Iran.
“After years of living as refugees in Iran, a total of 2,348 Afghan refugees returned to their homeland Afghanistan on Sunday, and the process of returning the refugees to their country continues,” the statement added.
According to statistics, more than 54,000 Afghan refugees have left Iran in recent months and returned.
