Israel waged’systematic’ battle against Islam in Jerusalem.

Dr. Najeh Bakirat, the deputy director general of the Islamic Awqaaf [Religious Endowments] in Jerusalem, said on Wednesday that the Israeli occupation state is engaged in a “systematic” campaign to eradicate Islam from Jerusalem. The most recent Israeli police raids at Bab Al-Rahma Mosque, he said, “came to test the pulse of Muslims ahead of closing it permanently.”

Israel intends to convert the Bab Al-Rahma Mosque into a synagogue inside the Noble Sanctuary of Al-Aqsa in occupied Jerusalem, a rights organization said Tuesday.

“The Israeli occupation is working to restore its influence, its absolute security, and its administrative control over Al-Aqsa Mosque,” Bakirat said to the Gaza weekly Al-Resalah. Over the last two days, there has been a lot of Israeli military activity around the Al-Aqsa Mosque site.

The four million Muslims who visited Al-Aqsa Mosque prayers throughout the month of Ramadan, which concluded this weekend, may be the target of this action, according to Bakirat.

The Islamic Awqaaf official said that “this is a comprehensive war targeting Islamic demography, geography, and presence in the holy city.” He claimed that the eastern sector of the seized city will be divided and given a Jewish identity by the Israeli occupation. “All facets of life in Jerusalem are under attack in this war.”
