Abdullah to World: Don’t ignore the crises in Afghanistan
Head of High Council of National Reconciliation Abdullah Abdullah during his speech in Dohaurged the world to take actions against the human rights violation happening with the civilians of Afghanistan and tell Taliban that world still believes in peace.
Abdullah Abdullah was addressing representatives of the US, China, Pakistan, Russia, the UK, Uzbekistan, Qatar, the UN, and the EU in the Qatari capital Doha on Tuesday night August 10.
Abdullah Abdullah accused the Taliban of breaching their promises as they had agreed in their last meeting in Doha that the intra-afghan talks should be expedited and there should be a third party to the negotiations so that the ongoing misery be solved politically.
He said that the Taliban have not only met their commitments but they have expedited their offensive and are now capturing provincial capitals.
“The Taliban are pleading the release of their remaining prisoners while the same move did not contribute to peace and bringing the war to an end when Afghan government freed the group’s five thousand detainees.” Said Abdullah.
The head of HCNR said the ongoing misery will lead to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis which has now caused hundreds of thousands to leave their homes, thousands have been killed and thousands more have been wounded.
Abdullah Abdullah warned the participants of the gathering in Doha that if not stopped that ongoing atrocities will also harm them as other terror groups have also joined and are fighting alongside the Taliban in Afghanistan.
He called on the Taliban to present their peace scheme and agree upon a third party or mediator in intra-afghan talks because the war has no military solution.
The US, Russia, Pakistan, China, and representatives of other regional countries and international organizations are getting together in the meeting, Troika Plus to press Taliban to seek negotiated settlement and to reiterate their commitments about not recognizing any government imposing by force in Afghanistan.
