Pakistani foreign services officer sacked over sexual misconduct

A foreign services officer in Pakistan Waqar Ahmed, who was posted in Ukraine as deputy ambassador, was sacked after he was found guilty of sexually harassing a local worker.
A grade 18 officer of the Foreign Services of Pakistan, Ahmed was posted as First Secretary and charge d’affaires of Pakistan at Pakistan Embassy in Kiev, according to the letter of dismissal issued by the Foreign Ministry on May 5. The letter says Ahmad was found guilty of gross sexual misconduct.
Though Ahmed was being saved for a long time despite having long pending complaints against him, he was finally charged with gross misconduct, conduct unbecoming of an officer and gentleman and conduct prejudicial to good order and service discipline.
According to sources, Ahmed was stationed at Kiev as Pakistani spy agency ISI’s agent. Ahmed has been instrumental in organizing pro- Kashmir, anti – India conferences in Kiev.
He was the part of the interaction on September 11, 2019, with international students and delegates from 22 different countries at the International Week Event at National Economic University. The event was presided over by Ambassador Zahid Mubashir Sheikh who delivered  a lecture on Pakistan- Ukraine relations and the issue of Kashmir to Pakistani.
Ahmed was a focal person for the overseas Pakistanis living outside Pakistan.
Now, the Foreign Office found him guilty of the charges so he has been removed from the service with immediate effect. Under the rules, the officer can file appeal to the Service Tribunal of the country.
