Lavrov emphasized the necessity for diplomatic solutions to resolve differences between Kabul and Islamabad, as stated in a Foreign Ministry readout available on its web portal. Discussions included the destabilizing effects of aggression in Iran and explored ways to ease military and political tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Moscow remains vigilant about the escalating situation at the Afghan-Pakistan border, with frequent armed clashes reported. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova highlighted the use of heavy weapons during confrontations, affecting the civilian population, including returnee Afghan refugees.
